Regina Spektor - Fidelity

I've completely fallen for Regina Spektor. Here's the video for her song "Fidelity". It's from her album Begin to Hope. I'm happy that, in this time of cookie-cutter music, there is still a lot of great minds creating new and interesting art.

Recommendation for Your Cell Phone: Opera Mini 3

After a day and a half of trying to configure my cell phone's internet settings I'm finally able to use Opera Mini 3. I have to say, it's a hell of a lot better than my default cell web browser. I'm actually able to go to just about any site and view it. Before I would end up with 413 error messages constantly.

I don't know why it was such a bitch to get running through my Cingular service, but I finally found the solution staring me right where I should have seen it the whole time...on Cingular's website. Sometimes I tend to make things way too difficult for myself.

If you want to see what Opera Mini looks like after you get it to install, check out this super hi-res screenshot. Bonus: It's in German.

If you wish to install this on your phone(Java enabled phones only), just click on the picture to the right and enter in the information needed. You'll get an SMS sent to your phone with the download link. If you need help setting it up, don't look at me, I'm somewhat useless.

Racist Kramer, Odd ad, and a band recommendation.

First off, who knew that everyone's favorite "wacky"/"eccentric" neighbor was a closet racist? Not me, but everyone at the Laugh Factory found out first hand.

WARNING: The content in this video may be offensive and also even more damaging than the "Seinfeld Curse".

Please remember that this is Michael Richards of Seinfeld, not Keith Richards of the living dead fame.

Did you know how expensive batteries are before the tremendous discounts that stores give you? Try over $700,000. Found this over at Digg.

I've captured a screenshot, in the event that Amazon changes the price.

And last, but not a cliché...

I've recently found a pretty sweet band. They're called "Elizabeth and the Catapult". I bought their EP and was impressed by what I heard. If you like women that play the piano and some clever wordplay in your lyrics, check them out. It's a little Fiona Appleish, but I'd say a little less dark. You can go to their website and listen to some of their tracks. I purchased the EP through iTunes because that was the only place that I could find it in stock. I burnt a CD from it and it hasn't left my car's player yet.

Heroes

Just a quick post before my Tylenol PM kicks in.

Anyone else watching Heroes? I've just finally got around to watching all of the episodes in this past week. They were saved on my DVR, but I was never in the mood to watch an hour long show that wasn't Lost. Also, I didn't think that I was going to like it. That was stupid of me, because this show is kind of like ABC's island drama(lots of mystery to the "heroes" origins). The best way that I can discribe it is that it's kind of Lost and The 4400's love-child.

It's now highly recommended by me. Seems like a really good story, and it's beautifully shot.

If you haven't watched this show yet, give it a try. You can find the episodes for sale on iTunes for $1.99(some other number in some other currency in some other country). Obviously, you can also find them on your local torrent site for FREE FREE FREE! But that's illegal, so I can't endorse that route.

This show better not flop for the rest of the season, or I'm going to lose all of my nonexistent credibility.

Trailer:

Off-topic:

Enjoy my super awesome "halloween theme". Those are some spooky ghost surrounding my site. I put a lot of effort into putting those there(from borrowing the graphic to inserting it into my website with my super awesome HTML skills). No need for thanks, it's implied. God, I'm creative.

Suggestion: Studio 60

A show about the behind the scenes workings of a 'Saturday Night Live' type show. It stars Matthew Perry(Chandler from 'Friends'), Bradley Whitford(that guy from 'The West Wing'), Amanda Peet(from the classic movie 'Whipped'), and a whole slew of others.

If you enjoyed "Sports Night" and/or "The West Wing", you'll most likely appreciate "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip". After all, they were all created by the great Aaron Sorkin.

It has the same great dialogue as both of those shows. The writing and the acting are both at the top of anything on TV today(except 'Flavor of Love'). I really got hooked after the first episode, but wanted to give it till the third before declaring how great it is. There was no slip-off.

So, if you're not watching this show yet, jump on in. It's only three episodes into the season, and I think that it would be easy enough to get on board now. You may not get all of the backstories, but I'm sure that you'll pick up on most of the key points of the characters. Maybe you can find it on iTunes, or one of those illegal file-swapping thingamajigs(use thingamajigs at your own risk)?

It airs Monday nights at 10e/9c on NBC.

Here's a trailer for the show(I'd post a clip, but NBC has been taking them down left and right):

BlogMusik

Just a quick recommendation. Check out BlogMusik. It's a site where you can search and listen to just about any song you can think of. I'm pretty sure that it's not legal in the RIAA's eyes, but that doesn't mean that you can't enjoy this while it lasts. Maybe you can even discover something new.

Lost: Season 2

Lost: Season 2 is out on DVD today.

If you have never watched Lost, you really should. It's a well written drama/sci-fi/mystery series of hour long episodes. Each episode usually gives you a little more of the big picture as to why they are on the island. Episodes also focus on a single character's backstory, leading up to them becoming stranded. I can't recommend a show anymore than I can recommend Lost.

I didn't watch the show when it first aired in 2004, but I picked up the DVDs and was surprise by how much the story pulled me in. I actually sat there and watched about 12 straight episodes. I probably would have watched all of them if I didn't need to sleep/bathe/work.

A lot of people watch the show almost frame by frame trying to pick out little clues that may be lying around. They also like to find cross-overs in characters' backstories. It's interesting all of the little details that are slipped in by the writers and producers. If it weren't for the online Lost community, I would have missed just about every single one of these. A couple of really good Lost discussion groups are Lost-Forum.com and The Fuselage(the creative team and even some of the actors visit The Fuselage from time to time to chat with the fans).

Even during the off-season, you are still able to pick up a bit more of the story by following "The Lost Experience". It's an ARG(alternative reality game), which seems to be wrapping up. Right now players of this ARG are finding codes that give them fragments of videos which, when all are released, will be pieced together to give us all more of the Lost story. You can catch up with these here and here. It's not necessary to follow this game to follow the show, but it is an added bonus for fans.

Pick up the DVDs and catch up with the story before the Oct 4th season 3 premeire.

V for Very Good

Recommendation time.

V for Vendetta is an absolutely stunning movie. It has a thought-provoking story and is visually amazing. Everyone should check it out. I'm not going to get too into it, as I don't want to spoil the plot for anyone.

The only complaint that I had was the sound. I had to crank up the volume whenever V would speak from behind his mask.

Here's the link to the DVD:

I bought this version from BestBuy. It came with a little Guy Fawkes mask and some artwork.

Some of you may not know, but it was adapted from a graphic novel which you can find here:

I haven't read it yet, but I'm picking it up right now. It's always fun to see what from the original didn't make it into the movie.

Nike+ iPod kit

I've been trying to get back into shape. The only problem is that I lack any sort of motivation to get off of my ass.

Well, all of that's changed for me. For about the past two weeks I've been running, without interuption in my "running schedule".

The Nike+ iPod kit (for use with the iPod nano only) has been my great motivator. The reason why this works, while looking at myself in a loathsome manner didn't, is because I love stats. Anything where an average can be figured out, or an increase/decrease is calculable, I'm there. This is why I'm addicted to baseball(the sport of stats). It's also why I check on my website's stats on a constant basis. I just can't help immersing myself in numbers.

All you have to do is attach a little reciever to your nano and plop a sensor into your sneaker. Supposedly you need to buy special Nike+ sneakers, but according to Podophile, you can just attach it to any shoe.

Once you finish running, you plug your nano into your computer and it updates your stats via iTunes. Then all you have to do is log onto the Nike+ site and track your progress.

You can see how far, long, or fast you've run. You can set challenges to other Nike+ runners. You can even set personal goals. Good stuff.

Here's the link to buy it from Amazon.com, but you may want to get it directly from Nike, as they're already shipping the product. Amazon has a wait of 1-2 weeks for shipping.

So, if you like stats and getting into shape, pick one up.

Edit: Nike.com is taking 5 days to ship. Which is still faster than Amazon.

On a side note. Don't click on the Google ads, on my site, for Multi-Level Marketing. I don't know which blog Google is reading, but I said that you'd want to avoid them, not sign up for one. Bastards.
