Nike+ iPod kit

I've been trying to get back into shape. The only problem is that I lack any sort of motivation to get off of my ass.

Well, all of that's changed for me. For about the past two weeks I've been running, without interuption in my "running schedule".

The Nike+ iPod kit (for use with the iPod nano only) has been my great motivator. The reason why this works, while looking at myself in a loathsome manner didn't, is because I love stats. Anything where an average can be figured out, or an increase/decrease is calculable, I'm there. This is why I'm addicted to baseball(the sport of stats). It's also why I check on my website's stats on a constant basis. I just can't help immersing myself in numbers.

All you have to do is attach a little reciever to your nano and plop a sensor into your sneaker. Supposedly you need to buy special Nike+ sneakers, but according to Podophile, you can just attach it to any shoe.

Once you finish running, you plug your nano into your computer and it updates your stats via iTunes. Then all you have to do is log onto the Nike+ site and track your progress.

You can see how far, long, or fast you've run. You can set challenges to other Nike+ runners. You can even set personal goals. Good stuff.

Here's the link to buy it from Amazon.com, but you may want to get it directly from Nike, as they're already shipping the product. Amazon has a wait of 1-2 weeks for shipping.

So, if you like stats and getting into shape, pick one up.

Edit: Nike.com is taking 5 days to ship. Which is still faster than Amazon.

On a side note. Don't click on the Google ads, on my site, for Multi-Level Marketing. I don't know which blog Google is reading, but I said that you'd want to avoid them, not sign up for one. Bastards.

A few things to avoid during your lifetime

I'm going to pass on a little bit of advice to help you in your life. Avoid these things at all costs. Click on the links for more information.

1. Scientology

Just so you know. You may want to stay away from YouTube.com too. I've become obsessed with it(as evidenced by half of my posts here). But watch this video anyway. Comedy Central finally started re-airing the "Trapped in a Closet" episode of South Park.

2. Psychics

Like Scientologist, psychics only want to take your money. They have no magical powers. The only real people with magical powers are super-heroes. Give them your money. It's expensive keeping up a secret identity.

3. Multi Level Marketing Schemes

I'm sure that most everyone would love to make money fast, but it's just not the reality. All of these "companies" are just glorified pyramid schemes. Unless you find a pyramid scheme that is actually building a pyramid, stay away. Not worth your time, or money.

4. Electrocution

It just really hurts. The only upside is that looking like Doc Brown is pretty awesome.
Having no feeling in your hands, not so much.

5. American Psycho 2

Awful, awful, awful, awful movie. No matter how much you may have enjoyed the original, stay away. Mila Kunis + William Shatner = Very bad things.

6. Moxie Soda

Remember when soda was considered medicine? Moxie could still pass for that. It's never been updated to make it palatable.
I still remember my first and last can of Moxie. No amount of Listerine will get that aftertaste out of your mouth. It's kind of like chewing on some sticks from your backyard. Flashbacks for life.

Well, that's just a small sampling of what to avoid. Feel free to post your own. It's always a good thing to look out for each other.

Summer Camp

I've never been to summer camp, but this was always how I pictured it:

There's no actual DVDs yet, but maybe someday. Here's a link to the Amazon.com page waiting for the realease.

Even though I didn't get to go to summer camp, I would like to hear your stories. Leave them in the comments.

I should have a full, new post tomorrow. The power/internet has been iffy since the big storm that passed through last night.

R.I.P. iPod Nano

crying

Today is a sad day. My beloved iPod Nano decided that it no longer wished to live. It commited suicide this morning after refusing its latest update from Apple.

It was less than a month old, but had lived a lifetime.

I like to remember all of the good times with it. Like running at the track, or driving me to deafness.

Nano is survived by my iPod mini, which will be getting some me-time until my replacement comes from Apple. That should give it a little over a week as my #1 companion. Then it'll be all about Nano 2.

You will be missed.

Black like midnight sky
Noise blaring from your white buds
Never forgotten
